A LOGISTICS EXPERT has said that the GCCs logistics sector is becoming increasingly appealing for merger and acquisition (M&A) activity in todays environment.

p>A LOGISTICS EXPERT has said that the GCCs logistics sector is becoming increasingly appealing for merger and acquisition (M&A) activity in todays environment.

"Assessing the commercial value of logistics companies is always very difficult. It all depends on the specific added value that one company poses to another,?  Tom Nauwelaerts, head of logistics at Al Futtaim Logistics, told Emirates Business. ?However, I am convinced that the timing is right for mergers and acquisitions in the logistics sector. With the right amount of equity at hand, it would be a great timing right now to build up large, consolidated logistics companies across the region and beyond.?
Nauwelaerts said logistics companies that have readily available funds can do great acquisitions. "The market is ready for more consolidation, and there are many cash-strapped firms out there," said Nauwelaerts.
