HöRMANN KG, EUROPE’S leading manufacturer of doors for private and commercial buildings, announced  that it has established its own foreign subsidiary in the Middle East. Headquartered in the Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai, Hörmann Middle East FZE will provide complete solutions for doors and loading sites as well as a comprehensive range of related services backed by Hörmann KG’s extensive project experience. The press conference was held on the sidelines of the company’s participation in the Big 5 International Building & Construction Show .
Hörmann Middle East recently moved into its Dubai offices with an adjacent warehouse area of 1,500 square metres. In addition to business in the UAE, the sales team of Hörmann Middle East will also cover Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Iran and Kuwait. The company is also establishing ties with dealers and fitting companies in the region to further improve delivery times.
Christoph Hormann, Owner of Hörmann KG, said: “The numerous expansion prospects available throughout the Middle East’s resilient property and construction markets influenced our decision to set up a permanent base in the region. This follows the establishment of other subsidiaries in key markets such as India and Greece. The global crisis has not deterred us from pushing forward with our long-term growth plans, and we feel that the Middle East in particular offers exceptional potential within the coming months.”
“For the past few years we have been selling in the Middle East through a network of agents and distributors. We decided to establish our Dubai subsidiary as we are keen on exploring the untapped opportunities of this market even further,” added Darius Khanloo, Managing Director of Hörmann Middle East.
Hörmann Middle East is initially marketing door solutions particularly geared towards logistics and production facilities. It currently offers private building owners a sectional garage door specifically developed for the Middle Eastern market: the automatic sectional door (DSU). This door is manufactured in Germany, assembled in the UAE and can be at the customer’s premises in just one week.
Thanks to a wide range of dock levellers, industrial sectional doors, rolling shutters, dock shelters, operators, and an extensive selection of accessories, Hörmann KG offers its customers complete systems for modern loading sites.
High-speed doors with rigid or flexible curtains complete the offering, providing solutions for any type of building opening. Also, administrative areas can be equipped with fire and smoke-tight doors, as well as top-class office doors.

  • Two more gas turbines commissioned

Two new gas turbines with a total production capacity of 400 MW will be commissioned by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) before the end of the current year, according to DEWA managing director and CEO, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer. The utility will also commission two desalination units with a total production capacity of 160,000 litres of water, in addition to four auxiliary boilers according to Al Tayer. The units of power generation and water desalination project (Station M) have come into service this year to raise the production capacity of both electricity and desalinated water of DEWA.
