Nakheel signs up contractor for Dubai community centre project

Nakheel has appointed Parkway International as the main contractor on a AED 27.5 million (US$7.5 million) community centre construction project in Dubai

Construction on the 10,600 sqm Jumeirah Park Community Centre will begin immediately and has been scheduled for completion within 12 months.

Nakheel acting chief executive officer Sanjay Manchanda said, “Neighbourhood malls are a key part of our business plan. We are enhancing our communities with convenient, local facilities that people want and need.”

The site will serve 4,200 homes in Jumeirah Islands, Jumeirah Village Triangle and Jumeirah Park, and will house a supermarket, cafes and convenience stores.

Anchor tenant Geant, who will operate the site’s supermarket, has taken tenancy on 2,400 sqm of the centre, while other confirmed tenants include Early Learning Centre, Bin Sina Pharmacy, Gloria Jeans and Burger Fuel.
