More than 2,500 exhibitors from 70 countries are taking part in the mega expo, which will run till November 24 at the Dubai International Conference & Exhibition Centre.

Andy White, event director for The Big 5, said, "The Big 5 continues to be something of a barometer for the building and construction industry in terms of trends, performance and outlook. We have developed a number of features and reports that provide real and relevant added value for participants, and we have ensured that information on innovative new products in the market is readily available."

Knowledge sharing

Product specific seminars and green issues have taken the centre stage at the 2011 edition, with dedicated arenas for exhibitors and industry experts to showcase innovative technology and relevant applications. This increasing importance of knowledge share across a number of sectors has also generated the creation of more than 130 free-to-attend seminars.

Green Build Congress

The Green Build Congress forms another major highlight of the Big 5 2011. This new initiative will see some of the global experts and other key players in the industry discussing sustainability in the built environment, best practice and solutions for the future.

Gaia Awards

Returning to this year’s event is the Gaia Awards, which has grown to become a highly acclaimed recognition for those companies investing in the development and promotion of products, which aim to reduce the effects of damage to the environment caused in construction. The Gaia Award winners will be announced during The Green Build Congress on 22 November.
