Saudi Arabia exhibits strength at Big 5
Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, Saudi Arabia’s minister of commerce and industry, inaugurated the Saudi Arabia Pavilion at The Big 5 exhibition at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Saudi Arabia Pavilion saw around 100 exhibitors from the Kingdom showcase their products at The Big 5 in Dubai, which is being held from 17-20 November 2014
Represented by Abdulrahman Al-Zamil, president of Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC), the Saudi Export Development Authority (SAUDI EXPORTS) seeks to promote Saudi Arabian building, construction and infrastructure industries to the international markets.
Saudi Arabia’s participation in this exhibition is part of a strategy aimed at increasing non-oil exports and boost exports from Saudi Arabia to the regional construction sector. It is also a means to diversify its sources of revenue and boost the development of industries nationwide, according to Ahmed Alhaqbani, secretary general of SAUDI EXPORTS.
Alhaqbani added that the Saudi Arabian government, headed by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, is focused on expanding Saudi exports internationally, through a dynamic strategy. This would also develop the industrial and commercial sector and strengthen collaboration with the private sector.
“Saudi Arabian products are attributed for its quality and diversification, which enables it to compete on the international level, thus making it a strong alternative to other products that come into the GCC market. We have enough human resources as well as systems in place to take our products to the whole world,” the SAUDI EXPORTS executive noted.
According to Alhaqbani, the Saudi Arabian companies are keen to be part of The Big 5 because the Arab and GCC construction sector holds great potential for the Kingdom’s industries that produce building products such as glass, insulating materials, cement, marble, ceramics, doors, iron, granite, brick, stone paving roads , wood, tile, among others.
