No requests for LTE service licences

Jordan's Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) has announced that it did not receive any applications for 2.5 GHZ band licences by the 27th June deadline. The TRC encouraged the country's mobile operators to submit applications for the licence, which allows for providing LTE services, in May. Director of the TRC radio spectrum management department Mohammad Alwathiq Shaqrah told the Jordan Times that the TRC's council of commissioners are set to look into the issue.

The TRC announced in January that it received a request from Zain for obtaining required frequencies for extending the LTE service in return for US$70mn. TRC chief commissioner, Fadi Kawar, said in May that if Zain was still interested in obtaining the licence it should apply in line with the conditions highlighted in the regulator's document.
