The Netherlands-based asset design and consultancy firm Arcadis has won a US$22mn contract to provide architectural, branding, design and construction services on the Doha Metro’s Gold Line
According to the company, work will be undertaken on behalf of a contractor ALYSJ JV, a joint venture of several international and local construction/engineering firms.
The 354-km long Doha Metro comprises four major lines, and the Gold Line is the largest single construction package crossing the Qatari capital from east to west. Arcadis is expected to cover the detailed design and coordination of architectural finishes for 10 of the 13 underground stations, as well as asssociated MEP works, structural and landscape design as well as construction support and consultancy services.
Stephan Ritter, executive board member of Arcadis in the UK, Middle East and continental Europe said, “This is a great example of synergy between legacy Hyder and Arcadis’ capabilities, and the strong collaboration between the newly-formed Arcadis Qatar team and Arcadis Netherlands, in a bid to bring the best of our global capabilities in rail transportation to serve Qatar Rail. This award is also a tribute to the team already working on a similar package on Red Line South metro in Doha, as their excellent work has encouraged the ultimate client, Qatar Rail Company, to have confidence in recommending a further package of work to Arcadis.”
The design phase is expected to take one year and construction support an additional two years.
