Etihad Rail signs MoU with UAE armed forces to protect rail network

Etihad Rail and the UAE?s armed forces have signed an MoU to coordinate efforts directed at protecting the national rail network and securing Etihad Rail?s key installations

According to the agreement, the UAE?s defence forces will secure Etihad Rail?s vital installations and facilities such as stations, terminals, yards and depots. Etihad Rail officials said the company would provide a link to five key logistics centres operated by the UAE Ministry of Defence.

Ishaq Al Blooshi, major general staff pilot of the UAE Armed Forces, said, ?It is fantastic to see the progress of the Etihad Rail project and we recognise the benefits that this network will bring to our nation. It is our duty to protect and serve the nation?s rail system and we have pledged our commitment to the same.?

Officials from Etihad Rail revealed that the company is currently finalising another MoU with the UAE Ministry of Interior to also provide protection to Etihad Rail?s railway tracks.

Eng. Faris Saif Al Mazrouei, acting CEO of Etihad Rail, said, ?This MoU is a major milestone for the UAE?s national rail project and will ensure the safety and security of our infrastructure. We pay tribute to all those involved in the signing of this MoU and the efforts of the UAE?s Armed Forces to provide protection for national facilities and ensure the security of our nation.?
