Siemens seals sub-station deal with Qatar Steel

The power firm will build a 220/66/33 kV sub-station to replace the existing facility over a 14-month period.

Wolfgang Braun, head of power transmission at Siemens Middle East, said, “We are delighted to have been awarded this turnkey sub-station project with Qatar Steel and look forward to further co-operation with the company.”

The project is the first to be awarded to Siemens Power Transmission by Qatar Steel.

Siemens will supply Qatar Steel with 220/66/33 kV transformers and cables, together with equipment including 66 kV gas-insulated switchgear, 33 kV switchgear and the sub-station control and monitoring system.

Ali Bin Hassan Al-Muraikhi, director of Qatar Steel, commented, “We are pleased to have signed this contract with Siemens, and to develop a strategic business partnership.”
