Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has awarded the UAE-based consulting engineering firm Ted Jacobs Engineering Group (TJEG) with the responsibility of designing and monitoring the construction of its new project, The Solar Innovation Centre
With completion expected in November 2015, The Solar Innovation Centre is a sustainable construction that will be located in the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, in Dubai.
DEWA managing director and CEO H.E Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said, “The building will be a platform to showcase the latest solar and sustainable technologies and highlights DEWA’s achievements in this field.”
The centre will be utilised by companies, researchers, university students, and individuals working in the field of solar energy, as well as developers and manufacturers of clean-energy technologies, according to DEWA.
Launched with support from the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, the project will see the design house Kettle Collective working closely with TJEG as the lead architect.
“The landmark design celebrates the unique identity of the energy park reinforcing a sense of green Dubai as a leading example of sustainable development regionally and internationally,” Al Tayer commented.
Tony Kettle, director and design principal of Kettle Collective, said, “We are delighted to have been selected for this project, not only because of the competition that we were up against but because of the importance of this building in the future of Dubai.”
