Saudi Arabia?s Alfanar Group has awarded global renewable energy solutions provider Suzlon Group to supply 24 turbines for a 50.4MW wind power project in India

Under the order, Suzlon will supply 24 units of S111-90m wind turbine generators, each one with a capacity of 2.1MW to the project.

As a subsidiary of Alfanar Group, Alfanar Energy is planning to expand in Indian market as an independent power producer (IPP) and developer, with a total 2.2 GW of wind, solar and biomass projects throughout the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), India and South Africa region in the next five years.

This is Alfanar?s maiden project in Indian renewable sector.

Speaking about the deal, Alfanar said that as the renewable energy market is growing at a robust pace in India, the company has set further plans to provide clean and green energy for increasing market opportunities in the country.

According to Alfanar, the project is expected to provide power to more than 27,000 households and reduce 100,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per annum.

Suzlon explained that the project will be executed on a turnkey basis and the company will also provide operation and maintenance services.

Suzlon added that the wind turbine generators have been designed aiming to deliver a higher energy yield as well as offer higher return on investment for the customers.

Alfanar Energy is one of the most active global developers in the field of renewable energy, independent water projects (IWP), independent wastewater treatment projects (IWWT) and biomass, geothermal and WTE projects.

Suzlon is the only Indian wind energy company with in-house research and development (R&D) set up in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and India. More than 11 GW of the group?s wind power installation is in India, contributing to more than 35 per cent of the country?s wind installations.
