  • Gulf Air fleet renewal programme on schedule

    Gulf Air has announced that it is on target with its fleet renewal programme, following the delivery of its eighth A320-200 last month. The arrival of the new aircraft marks the final delivery in the first phase of the Bahrain’s national carrier’s order for 15 A320-200s and brings the number of new aircraft in the airline’s fleet in the last 10 months to 10 - eight A320-200s and two E170AR regional jets, according to the company.

UAE Airline, RAK Airways, has announced plans to re-launch services by the end of this year, having been out of action for over 12 months.

 

Budget airline adds Erbil to destinations

Dubai’s low cost airline, flydubai, has announced it will begin flights to Erbil in the Kurdish region of Northern Iraq. Flights to Iraq’s third largest will start on Friday, July 16 with a one-way fare priced at US$333 (AED1,225).

 

US$241mn Saudi monorail contract awarded

Bombardier Transportation has been awarded a US$241mn contract in Saudi Arabia for its next generation Innovia Monorail 300 fully automated transit system. The company has signed a contract with Saudi Arabian construction company, Saudi Oger Limited, for the supply, installation, operation and maintenance of a 3.6 km Bombardier Innovia Monorail 300 system for the King Abdullah Financial District, the new financial and business centre under development in Riyadh.

  • US$130mn Saudi Arabia power plant component order won

    Siemens Energy has secured a US$130mn order to supply gas turbine packages to Saudi Arabia. The components are to be installed in the Hail Extension II and Al Qurayat Expansion II power plants. The purchasers are the Alfanar Construction Company and Saudi Services for Electromechanic Works (SSEM) respectively and they will perform the project on a turnkey basis for the Saudi Electric Company (SEC) utility. Delivery of the components is scheduled for 2010 and 2011.
