OCI wins major infrastructure project in Saudi

Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) Saudi subsidiary, Saudi Limited Company (OSL), won an infrastructure contract in Saudi Arabia worth US$450mn.

OSL's scope of work will comprise major civil, mechanical and electrical works including 1.4 million cubic meters of excavation, 2.1 million sqm of roads, walkways, the supply and installation of 146 km of piping for the storm water, waste and potable water systems.

Additionally, OSL will provide electrical works for the roads include the supply and installation of main substations including 238km of copper cables and trays. Construction will take 24 months to complete.

Significant Growth

Orascom Construction Industries Chief Operating Officer, Osama Bishai commented, "this contract marks a major step forward in establishing OCI in Saudi Arabia and positions us for further opportunities in the future. We are confident that 2011 will see significant growth in our Saudi Arabian business."
