Spanish company awarded contract in Saudi

Spanish Group Telvent won a contract from Saudi Oger to implement its traffic management solution on King Abdullah Road, the 6-km highway in Riyadh, reported Trade Arabia.

Telvent, a real-time IT solutions and information provider, will deploy the firm's SmartMobility Road Suite solution. This system will allow for the centralisation of both tunnel infrastructure and traffic management and will improve traffic flow on the highway, while at the same time reinforcing driver safety and security.

"The solution will enable traffic operators to control traffic in real time and be prepared to respond quickly and effectively to any emergency situation occurring within the infrastructure," Ignacio Gonzalez, Telvent chief executive officer, said.

The system will include fire detection control, CCTV, traffic data collection station, ramp metering and communications network.
