The Perkins team returns to Middle East Electricity (MEE) from 5-7 March 2019 with new product launches, aiming to deliver a major boost in power density to the electric power sector

Visitors to MEE will see the company?s generator line-up, a complete range of EU Stage V engines, overhaul series and the My Engine App.

New Perkins 1706

As improved power density is vital to the success of today?s generator set manufacturers, so choosing an engine that draws the maximum power from the smallest package delivers a competitive advantage.

The Perkins 1706A-E93TAG2 produces 350 kVA from a 9.3-litre displacement, providing superior output and performance. With 22 per cent improved power density, this product offers a reduced package size, better fuel consumption and cheaper running costs.

In addition to 1706, Perkins showcases a 1206 and 2806, both of which offer significant power density improvements from a smaller package. With a seven litre displacement, the Perkins 1206AE70TTAG3 produces up to 275 kVA and delivers 20 per cent improved power density from a 20 per cent lighter engine when compared to the previous 1506 platform.

Perkins 5m 3Delivering 825 kVA from an 18-litre displacement, the Perkins 2806A-E18TTAG5 offers 28 per cent improved power density, a 35 per cent reduction in package size and a 48 per cent smaller footprint. Aside from performance benefits, the smaller footprint and 23 per cent reduction in height also enable generator set manufacturers to package this engine in a smaller canopy, saving space, installation and transportation costs. This engine compliments the Perkins 4006 at this power range, giving customers more choice and flexibility to suit their specific needs.

To demonstrate the breadth of the electric power engine range, Perkins is showcasing a 403A-11G which delivers 12 kVA and a 4008-30TAG2 which produces 1250 kVA. The 4008 on the show has been built at the Perkins Aurangabad manufacturing facility in India, which supplies 4000 Series engines for customers in Asia and the Middle East.

EU Stage V engines

Perkins is offering a complete range of EU Stage V engines designed to deliver efficient and reliable power for the European mobile generator set market.

The full engine range will cover Perkins 0.5 - 18-litre products, deliver a powerful 4 ? 560 kVA and is designed to ideally suited to a range of mobile electric power (EP) applications including light towers and rental equipment.

At MEE 2019, Perkins is showing a 9.3-litre engine with its corresponding Stage V after-treatment unit displayed off the engine. The exhibit is accompanied by an interactive display enabling customers to explore the engine range and the different options for mounting the after-treatment on or off the engine within a virtual canopy.

Overhaul options

Perkins 5m 2Overhauling an engine is the process of replacing crucial components, but retaining its core elements, such as the main engine block. The advantage of overhaul is greatly improved performance at a considerably lower cost than replacing the engine with a new one.

With overhaul products becoming increasingly popular in the electrical power sector, Perkins offers a comprehensive range of overhaul options, from the Perkins 400 Series through to the Perkins 4000 Series. The overhaul product range includes cylinder components, rotating components, valvetrain, gaskets and seals. It is complemented by an array of overhaul kits which help address some of the most common overhaul requirements.

My Engine App

Perkin 5m 1Perkins has released a major update to the My Engine App which features an improved and intuitive interface, the ability to set the customer?s own service intervals and the facility to give multiple members of the team direct access to the same engine?s data.

According to Perkins, the customers are benefitted from the convenience and value of easy access to engine-specific information such as build list, series, type, model, Perkins Platinum Protection indicator, parts book, a consumable list, up-and-coming services and a completed service log.

The smartphone app also provides contact details for the local Perkins authorised distributor to help owners of Perkins engines obtain expert support.
