General Electric (GE) has signed a contract valued at around US$700mn to supply equipment and services for a new gas-fired, power plant in Saudi Arabia.

Kuwait is set to dramatically increase the countrys power capacity to 17,500MW by 2014, up from the current capacity of 12,000MW, according to Minister of Electricity, Badr al-Shuraian.

Technip, a leader in oil and gas project management, in association with Hawk International, has been awarded by Total E&P Yemen, a lump sum turnkey contract for the Kharir Power Plant Project.

A new power plant for Saudi Arabia

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has signed a new deal worth SR12.75 billion (US$3.4 billion) with South Koreas Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction to build a 2,555 megawatt (MW) power plant at Rabigh.
