HLG, a joint venture between Al Habtoor Group and Australian builder Leighton Holdings, said that it would provide mechanical, electrical and plumbing work, as well as undertake road and bridge construction at the new US$3bn Midfield Terminal Complex (MTC).

According to the company, the work will be implemented at the airside and landside operational areas at the East Midfield Terminal, and along the existing E11 highway.

Work is scheduled to begin this month and is due for completion within 18 to 24 months, HLG added.

The new terminal is reportedly being designed to boost the hub’s capacity to 30mn passengers per year when complete by mid-2017.

The upcoming MTC is touted to be the largest in Abu Dhabi covering 700,000 square metres of area.
