Hail-2 Power Plant project commissioned early

Alfanar Construction has successfully completed the commissioning of the first two Siemens gas turbine units as part of the Hail-2?Power Plant?Extension-III project in Hail Province, Saudi Arabia, six weeks ahead of schedule

Alfanar and Siemens Energy Fossil Power Generation were able to commission the gas turbine units for Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) six weeks ahead of time to ensure a stable power supply to the region during the peak summer demand period.

Siemens has provided four SGT-6 2000E gas turbines and four generators, together with auxiliary equipment, providing a total output capacity of 280MW.

The expansion programme has been aimed at increasing the plant's power generation capacity and will allow SEC to meet the growing demands for reliable power across the Ha'il Province.

Siemens chief executive officer of Saudi Arabia, Arja Talakar, said, "Saudi Arabia has announced major investments in the development of local infrastructure and we are proud to contribute to this rapid development and to the realisation of the kingdom's ambitious industrialisation plans."

The announcement follows the successful commissioning of the first two gas turbine units in the Hail-2 Power Plant Extension-II project in just 12 months last year.
