Saudi Arabia?s renewable energy project development office (Repdo) is moving ahead with plans for the fourth and fifth phases of its ambitious renewable energy programme

According to sources close to the programme, Repdo has received proposals from qualified financial advisory firms for the transaction advisory (TA) role on rounds four and five of the kingdom?s National Renewable Energy Programme (NREP).

Saudi Arabia has set an ambitious target of developing 58.7GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. Repdo will oversee the development of 30% of this through a competitive tendering programme, with the PIF to procure the rest through directly negotiated contracts with investors.

On 3 June, Repdo also received proposals from the three groups for the larger photovoltaic (PV) solar projects. Category B of the NREP?s third round includes two projects with a total combined capacity of 1GW.

Proposals were received from:

Acwa Power (local)

Masdar (UAE)/ EDF Renewables (France) Nesma (local)

Jinko Power (China)

The Category B projects are:

? Ar-Rass PV independent power producer (IPP), 700MW

? Saad, 300MW IPP

Energy & Utilities reported in May 2021 that Repdo had received bids from three groups for the smaller Category A projects under the third round of the NREP.
